Youth Participation in Local
and National Development
In recent time, the Network of African Youths for Development and NAYD-Liberia
jointly hosted a press conference at the GCMA campus in Liberia on September
17, 2007. The organization represented by its Regional Director for West
Africa, Mr. Thomas Mitchell and Country Coordinator of Liberia, Mr. Andrew
Kuwon who addressed the press on the importance of youth participation
into sustainable development programs that will help restore their moral
ethics and be productive citizens. On his part, Mr. Mitchell, said NAYD
is in the position to help shift the lives of young Liberians and African
youths through education, community development, etc. Moreover, Mr. Mitchell
elaborated that, NAYD International aims to educate, create massive awareness
on peace, human rights, HIV/AIDS, UN Millennium Development Goals, and
Sustainable Development programs for and by young people across Africa.
NAYD-Liberia Country Coordinator, Mr. Kuwon, said the best way forward for Liberian
youths is proper education, ensuring that the government of Liberia must
prioritize primary and compulsory education for all Liberian children.

we all dream of a better life, abundant life with health for all? Yet,
years pass and while we still wait for that time when access to health
facilities will be available for all. That time when malaria will no longer
kill babies and none will be scared of going for an HIV/AIDS test.
