Be the Change
NAYD PARTNERS Be The Change (BTC) is a youth-led sustainable development Action Programme related to the Millennium Development Goals which aims to empower young people around the world to "be the change they want to see in the world."(Mahatma Gandhi) Peace Child International offers support and advice to young people to create and complete a variety of different projects serving the needs of their community. Recent projects funded include: • creating a bicycle taxi service in Kenya • setting up a cookery business for single mothers in Kenya • giving dressmaking classes to young girls in Niger • bringing electricity to a rural school in Georgia • funding an IT project in Nepal • And starting a water and sanitation health project in Uganda We have over 300 projects currently waiting to be funded. All these projects are devised, directed and delivered by young people under 25 - with the support of adult mentors. Not only does it bring real, tangible benefits to communities, it educates young people about the real business of development, and seeds a new generation of citizen activists. Most important it demonstrates to citizens young and old that young people can be the active instruments of delivering development aid, as well as the passive beneficiaries of that aid.
