Thomas
P. Mitchell, Jr. is a human rights and development
activist from Liberia. In 2002 he got actively
involved in child rights activism where he founded a child rights
group to speak against the abuses of Liberian children. He
was also the founder and first Country Director for the “Youth
for Human Rights International –Liberia Chapter”. Thereafter
he was appointed as Program Analyst to assist with regional programs
of this organization and later as Liberia Curriculum Liaison for
the One World Youth Project 2006/2007 based in the USA, (www.oneworldyouthproject.org/liberia.html).Mr.
Mitchell is also an “Action Partner” for Oxfam International
Youth Partnerships. This is
a three year program from 2007
to 2010 for young people around the world to participate in. Thomas
and Pochi (opposite) were the key initiators of
the NAYD2007 African youth summit held in Cameroon, March
26-28, 2007, a meeting that
led to the formation of NAYD where he is
currently the Regional Director for West Africa.

Pochi
Tamba is a journalist and development activist from Cameroon. She
is interested in the plights of children, under-privileged orphans and
others affected by severe poverty. She currently works
as a broadcaster with Cameroon Radio and Television Corporation
and also as Sub-Editor for the International
Young Professional’s Foundation (IYPF), an NGO based in Australia that
uses young professionals for development purposes.
In July 2005 she attended the World Youth Congress in Scotland and also represented
Africa in the writing of a booklet for young development
activists in England
called “Nothing
for us, without us”.
She is co-founder
of the MAYA Initiatives in Cameroon which works to empower young
orphans and children affected by severe poverty. Pochi
is currently the CEO of NAYD.
