Global Unification The Gambia is a chapter of Global Unification International in Australia. Global UnificationWe are a legally registered youth-led, research and development organisation (charitable) established in the Gambia in November 2006.We work for and with young people and local communities in the Gambia, supporting their efforts to move out of poverty, access quality health care services and adapt to the impact of climate change.

Using the motto 'Advancing Humanity', GU has cross-cutting mandates such as youth development, environmental protection, peace building, and responsible citizenship and gender reforms by advocating the rights of women and girls. We work for and alongside local communities building their capacities to enable them take pro-active roles in national development, alleviating their poverty situation, adapt to the impact of climate change, access information communication technology and above all live a more dignified life.

In partnership with relevant institutions, our mission is to provide education, skills and strengthen the capacity of young people, groups working with youths and local communities to enable them participate effectively in sustainable development processes of The Gambia

Main Objective

• To improve the capacity of young people enhancing their participation in sustainable development of the Gambia, by delivering quality services to their community, utilizing both local and international good practices and standards.

Completed Projects in 2011
Global Unification1. National Stakeholders Workshop on Community Based Adaptation to Climate Change.
This was a two-day forum conducted on the theme: Climate Change and Agriculture; ensuring food security in our changing climate. Organized by Global Unification and funded by Actionaid The Gambia it will attract personalities from relevant sectors in the country to deliberate, and share good practices on climate change solutions and community based adaptation to climate threats in particular.

2. Radio Climate Action Advocacy (Climate Talk)
The climate talk radio show was a year radio advocacy program intended to raise awareness, promote public participation and access to information on climate change issues. The project, carried on the theme rethinking our future was funded by Action Aid the Gambia and implemented by Global Unification The Gambia. Within a period of 12 months, the project was able to carry out 22 panel discussions involving stakeholders from policy level, NGOs to local communities. We also carried interviews for 200 people including local farmers, fishermen, taxi drivers, university students and lecturers, enabling them to share their knowledge, understanding or in some cases their coping mechanism of the effect of climate change.
