YAPHRI
IS a human rights based organization that will seriously
monitor research and report on serious human rights violations
and support national and international human rights based programs
and projects, especially encouraging Liberian youths to join YAPHRI
human rights campaign across the country.The group is planning ways to
establish concrete partnership with bigger human rights organizations,
experts, lawyers, respective UN
agencies and youth organizations worldwide to buttress international
human rights documents as advocacy tools for human rights and peace
building around the world.

Women Deliver Conferences in Washington DC during
June 2010 Thomas Mitchell
Women
Deliver is a global advocacy organization bringing together voices
from around the world to call for action
against maternal
death. I have prepared a unique report and sharing it with
NAYD International Board, CEO and the members, it will be a beginning
of our journey
to incorporate meaningful programs on maternal health,
sexual and reproductive health rights, etc.
Please peruse the following attached documents and let me know
what you think we can start doing now as a group.
To start the ball rolling, I’m working with other Liberians
delegate to submit a report to the following groups in Liberia
and afterward seek sponsorship for a one day workshop that
will be hosted after every three months once the funding is provided
from would be selected groups in Liberia.
The Women Deliver report will firstly be share with Ministry of
Health & Social Welfares; WHO; US Embassy; UNFPA; UNDP. Reports

The
African Network for the Prevention and Protection Against Child
Abuse and neglect (ANPPCAN) Liberia Chapter
Founded
in 2001, it is the national chapter of ANPPCAN, a pan-African child
rights organization founded in 1986 in Enugu Nigeria , with the head
office in Nairobi , Kenya . It is legally registered in Liberia as
a national Non-Governmental and Non-profit Organization. Our mission
is to enhance child rights protection through building capacities
of the local communities, professional groups and governments to
protect their own children.To actualize this mission, ANPPCAN Liberia
carries out activities aimed at achieving the following objectives:

> To promote education as a basic right of children.
> To convene and participate in national, regional (continental) and international
forums dealing with promotion of the rights of children.
> To enhance awareness on child rights and child protection in Liberia
> To pro>ote safe drinking water and sanitation in schools and communities
> To combat the worst forms of child labour
> Share best practices emerging from successful programs implemented by sister

> Advocate for non-discrimination of children based on gender and disability.
> To combat HIV/AIDS through promoting preventive measures and mobilize community
support of children orphaned through death of parents related to the syndrome.

Commemoration
of the “Gathering of All Nations
Liberia 2009”
On
21st September 2009, a one day event was held on the main campus of
the Global Cares Mission Academy, a local community school in Liberia
teaching over 200 students, some are less privileged children. The
one day event in the name of Gathering of Nations 2009, is a global
event initiated by Richard Fletcher in Melbourne, Australia and founder
of the Universal Peace Society. In commemorating this global peace event, we in Liberia, as a youth
led organization called the Network of African Youths for Development
(NAYD Liberia) www.nayd.org/liberia.htm , successfully implemented a
one day peace event on September 21, 2009 in celebration of the global
peace conference initiated from Melbourne, Australia by Richard Fletcher.
During the presentation of this peace conference on the campus of the
Global Cares Mission Academy, students and teachers were able to learn
about importance of peace building and were informed about the goals
of Gathering of All Nations 2009 conference around the world. Those presented
were, Andrew D. Kuwon, Country Coordinator of NAYD Liberia and Thomas
P. Mitchell, Jr., Regional Director, NAYD International and Local Consultant
of NAYD Liberia.
Expectation:-
We hope to organize a bigger peace conference in 2010 and create high
media awareness in meeting with large number of peace activists, youth
groups, students, human rights activists, etc.
Recommendation:-
Students and teachers of the Global Cares Mission Academy in Liberia,
to where the Gathering of All Nations 2009 Liberia conference was held,
have recommended that the next peace conference in 2010 reach its goal
in targeting the require number, printing of peace t-shirts, and maybe
a peace march.

Youth
Actions on HIV/AIDS
NAYD Liberia had promised to live up to
its six months calendar of events, one of which is the Youth Actions on
HIV/AIDS
workshop held in the conference room of the Liberian Innovation Foundation
for Empowerment (LIFE) Inc. on Friday, March 20, 2009. The workshop
with two topics 1. Risky Behavior and Preventions; 2. Youth and Community
Involvement with HIV/AIDS was discussed interactively amongst students,
youth groups, community residents and NAYD Liberia staffs, including
two lecturers, Mr. Boersen Hinneh of Mother Pattern College of Health
Sciences (AIDS Department) and Mr. Andrew D. Kuwon, Country Coordinator
of NAYD Liberia .More
The Network of African Youths for Development (NAYD)
Liberia In-House Staff workshop held on February 28, 2009
As
part of our six months plan of action to be executed, the NAYD-Liberia
staffs fully implemented its staff workshop
under the directive of Mr. Andrew D. Kuwon supervised by Mr. Thomas
P. Mitchell, Regional Director for West Africa (NAYD International).
The
workshop included registration, invocation, welcome statement, self-introduction,
partnership discussions, and recommendations. The topic “Organization
Development and Leadership” was listened to and interactively
discussed by Rev. K. Melton Seleweyan of IAEWP-Liberia, Abraham Morris
of SWA-Liberia,
Kish-Trokon Beadeh , Nathaniel Hunder, Andrew D. Kuwon all of NAYD
Liberia and Thomas P. Mitchell, Jr., NAYD International .More
Child
Literacy Program Initiative
This
project has been designed by Action Partner, Thomas P. Mitchell Jr., of
the “Oxfam International Youth Partnership” (OIYP
2007-2010) with the help of NAYD Liberia. It
is designed purposely for non school age and underprivileged children in
communities, where high percentage of parents are jobless
or lacking the financial support to sponsor their children into schools.
It
is presently implemented with committed and volunteer officials of the “Network of African Youths for Development” (NAYD-LIBERIA),
a non-for-profit organization operating in Liberia with legal status
from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, constitution and board resolution.

Participation - Strategizing Collective Ideas for Successful Project
Implementation
The
best opportunity ever in my present life is becoming an Action Partner
of the OIYP 2007-2010 program. I believe the OIYP 2007-2010 program
is a big development ship and has over 200 young leaders on board as
Action Partners from different culture, background, profession, etc.More

Liberia - Introductory Awareness Program on the UN MDGs
In
accordance with our programs as spelt out in our brochure the UN MDGs,
NAYD-Liberia conducted 40 minutes program within a secondary school in
Paynesville City. The awareness program was on the 16th of November 2007
at the Seven Day Adventist High School (SDA) and this program brought together
over 50 students at the same time to learn about the UN Millennium Development
Goals. In respect of gender balance and participation, female students
were participated as well.
At the end of this 40 minutes awareness program, on behalf of the school
administration and students, the Vice Principal Mr. Peter Doetin expressed
his school interest and students desire to become part of this global
initiative.

Liberia - October 2007 Report on the UN MDGs
The NAYD-Liberia family in collaboration with her OWYP Sister School
(Isaac A. David) students and staff met on the 5th, 19th, and 26th of
October in carrying out the implementation of OWYP and the UN MDGs-message.These
programs that were all indoor, brought together primary students, senior
school staffs of Isaac A. David. A four person delegation of NAYD-Liberia
headed by the country coordinator, Mr. Andrew D. Kuwon, explained the
significant of the One World Youth Project and the UN MDGs. Programs
were highlighted on cultural exchange, its value and the ways it affect
our lives as school going children as well as youths of Liberia.
In these programs, there were specific remarks and recommendation made
by students and the administration. Some of those include: the coverage
of OWYP programs to other schools, the importance of the community and
state intervention to these unknown materials such as the MDGs etc.Mr.
James Wolubah, vice principal for primary division at the school admonished
students to be proactive and vigilant in the process of the
UN MDGs at the Isaac A. David School. For the students part, they expressed
delight and recognize NAYD-Liberia continue effort in the educational
process of Liberian youths.
Special thanks to NAYD International Regional Director for West Africa,
Mr. Thomas P. Mitchell, Jr., for his tremendous and brilliant work he
continue to pursue for social and sustainable development, human rights,
peace message in Liberia. Mr. Mitchell, who recently came from Australia
attending an importance conference organized by Oxfam Australia, has
planned to host a one day orientation and development workshop for NAYD-Liberia
staffs in December 2007.

Liberia - Summary Report on Recent Training on Volunteerism
In the wake of community development and volunteerism in Liberia, NAYD-Liberia
Country Coordinator, Mr. Andrew Kuwon and NAYD Regi onal
Director for WA, Thomas P. Mitchell, Jr. were invited to a one-day workshop on
August 11, 2007 held at the St.
Nagbe United Methodist Church in Liberia. This workshop brought together over
50 participants from different universities and organizations to learn the
importance of volunteerism, Partnering/Networking, etc. This workshop was also
interactive
between presenters and participants. This training workshop was organized and
hosted by Volunteers in Liberia USA Team in conjunction with VIL-Liberia. Presentations
included Mr. Lenus M. Perkins on "Volunteerism", Mr. Frederick N. Peal
on "Fundraising" and Rev. Rudolph Bropleh on "Partnering/Networking".
These topics were highly interesting and educative for participants. We
are currently putting some plans together to partner with VIL-Liberia on volunteer
initiatives in communities, not only in Montserrado County, but also across the
country.
